Dalgona Balhyocha Milk Tea

Have you heard of Dalgona Coffee, the newest craze all over social media these days?

Dalgona (달고나) meaning "sweet" is from Korea and it has a long history. It is toffee-like candy made with melted sugar and baking soda, which is very similar to sponge toffee, honeycomb toffee and cinder toffee. Actually Dalgona Coffee doesn't contain Dalgona itself as the top foam of Dalgona Coffee is made by stirring instant coffee powder and sugar a thousand times. 

Before Dalgona Coffee became popular, Dalgona Milk Tea was very popular and trendy in Korea, and it still is.

Our Balhyocha has pleasant sweet flavours of chocolate or caramel and it is a perfect pair with Dalgona. It is our strong recommendation.

Here is how to make our Dalgona Balhyocha Milk Tea.


Balhyocha Infused Milk

· 5g or 2 heaping tablespoons Balhyocha 

· 1 cup (8 oz) cold milk

· ice cubes 


· 3 tablespoons sugar

· a pinch of baking soda


1) Add 5g of Balhyocha leaves in a cup of cold milk and refrigerate for 24 hours. This is our strong recommendation. Tea infused milk is a lot better than adding milk in tea.

2) Melt sugar in a small frying pan at low heat stirring with a chopstick. You need to continuously keep stirring sugar from the beginning to keep it from burning.

3) When sugar is all melted, add just a pinch of baking soda and quickly stir with a chopstick and remove from the heat. *Note: Never add a lot of baking soda or it will be popped up like a mountain.

4) Pour Dalgona onto an oven-pan to cool down.

5) Wrap Dalgona with parchment paper or a ziplock bag, and hammar it to break it into pieces.

6) Add ice cubes and strained Balhyocha milk to a cup. Add Dalgona pieces on top.
